Gemma blinked at the giant, thumbnail-sized diamond, too stunned to speak. The ring sparkled, seated on a bed of blue velvet, and her boyfriend of six months held the small box up, causing the orange light from the setting sun outside his seven-forty-seven jumbo jet to refract off the stone in a rainbow of color. She looked up at him. A crooked smirk made his impossibly handsome, strong features look positively wicked.
“Um…could you say that again? I know I couldn’t have heard you right.”
Victor’s dark amber eyes sparkled and he leaned over a little, his husky timber low and deliberate as he said the same words he’d spoken when he pulled the ring out of his charcoal black Armani blazer. “Marry me, Gemma Willis.”
Gemma cocked her head at him, unable to help a shaky chuckle. She didn’t fail to notice that he didn’t ask so much, as tell her. His natural confidence and ever present arrogance, the kind that seemed to go hand in hand with men of his looks and money, had always fascinated her, drawing her to him even as it sometimes irritated her. There was nothing hotter than a man who knew how to take charge.
“And if I say no?” She gave him a mocking smile.
He lifted one large, well-shaped hand and traced her cheek with his finger. “Would you?”
The hint of doubt in his tone took her aback, the vulnerability in his eyes unexpected. Her heart melted just a little bit more.
For half a year, Victor Spec, owner to one of the world’s most profitable video game design companies had romanced her, giving her the kind of life most women only dreamed of. Flying from his office in New York to Paris at a moment’s notice for a weekend getaway, expensive dinners out at restaurants that didn’t admit customers with less than five zeros in their bank accounts, and lavish clothes that cost more than her whole apartment. At twenty-four, still in law school and working up a heck of a student loan she refused to let him pay off, she wasn’t a materialistic woman, but he’d given her a taste of a life she never would have known otherwise. They hadn’t been together long. The idea of spending the rest of her life with a man like him baffled her.
A proposal after such a short time should have given her pause, but somehow it just felt…right. Still, she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t a little anxious.
“It’s not that I don’t want to.” She took his hand and kissed his palm. “I love you. But…what’s the catch? I have no money, no claim to fame.”
Victor shook his head. “That doesn’t matter to me. Have I ever given you any indication I care about that?”
“No. But I work in a deli, and I go to a low end college. I volunteer at a soup kitchen. Women like me don’t get proposals from men like you. When you came into the soup kitchen to give us that check six months ago, the last thing I expected was for you to ask me out on a date. I still don’t understand why you even want me.”
“For the exact things you just said. I’ve never seen a woman work so hard, or go so far out of her way to help others. I want someone who wants me for who I am, not my money. The gaming business is extremely cutthroat. There is a purity, a goodness in you I rarely see in my line of work.”
He stopped and stood from the plush airplane seat. A remoteness crossed his features and he paced across the space to the small bar where his staff kept an assortment of wines and liquors. Gemma moved to the edge of her seat, watching his broad back tighten. Unease slid through her.
“Victor, what is it?”
He poured himself a glass of bourbon, but didn’t drink. Instead he set the glass down and turned to her. Fine crows feet crinkled his eyes, reminding her of his age, ten years older than her. Why that should hit her now, she didn’t know. It had never mattered before. Rich, night black hair and smooth features coupled with a rock hard body gave the impression of vitality belonging to a man half his age.
“There is a catch, Gemma.”
The words made her gut clench. Ah, the hook surfaces. She sighed and lowered her head. “What is it?”
After a long moment of silence, he closed the space between them and sat down beside her again. Then he took her hands. “You remember the three partners I work with at the office. The other owners of Galaxy Com Games?”
“You’ve mentioned them before, yes.”
“We’ve been friends since high school. Before graduation, we made a pact. We’re blood brothers. We share everything.”
“Ok…” She scrunched her brows. “What does that have to do with me?”
His grip tightened on her hands. “When I say we share everything, I mean everything. What belongs to one of us belongs to all of us.”
Slowly, his words sank in. Her blood buzzed in her veins. He had to be kidding.
“Wait. You mean, to marry you, I have to…with them?”
“It’s more than that. On paper, you will be married to me. But according to our blood bond, you will be married to all four of us. It will be the same with Mike, Harrison, and Cord when they are ready to take wives.”
Gemma opened her mouth several times only to close it, at a loss for what to say. This wasn’t the first time she’d heard of relationships like this, and she’d always thought of herself as an open-minded person, but polyamorous relationships always seemed strange to her. Strange, yet intrigue nibbled at her.
“Victor, I’ve never even met them. Being married to four men…that doesn’t even make sense.”
“I know. But it does to us. I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just how we are.” He brushed her blond hair back from her cheek. “Look, all I ask is for you to meet with them. Talk to them. Feel things out. And I don’t expect you to agree to anything right away. I’ll wait and give you all the time you need.”
Gemma drew a long breath. The idea of what he was asking sent her head spinning, but something pulled at her to talk to them, to meet the other men in his blood bond. Like a tether, drawing her to go where Victor asked. She looked at him, taking in the hope, the need in his eyes.
“When do you want me to meet them?”
A short time later, the plane landed and the pilot announced their arrival in New York. They’d gone to a theater in California and stayed overnight, but with what Victor had told her, Gemma wished they could have stayed another night, if it meant putting off the meeting with his three business partners. Gemma got up with Victor as he opened the door, thinking she was going to follow him out of the plane. Instead, a man stuck his head in the doorway.
“Vic.” He stepped onto the plane, smoothing out his grey suit and setting his briefcase down with a grin. “Where’s the future ex Mrs. Spec?”
Victor raised a bro
w.
“Anyone who’s crazy enough to marry you would only put up with you for so long.”
“Fuck you, Mike.” But he was laughing.
Mike’s gaze caught hers and he held out a hand. “Hi. Mike. Wow. Vic, you said she was beautiful, you didn’t say she was drop dead gorgeous.”
Heat raced over Gemma’s cheeks. There was something so incredibly disarming and witty about Mike, she couldn’t help feeling at ease. “Hi, Mike. Nice to meet you.”
“Stop embarrassing her, will you? Where are Harrison and Cord? Dinner reservations are for seven, and it’ll take an hour to get there.”
“Late as usual. Harrison was closing a deal.” Mike took his briefcase and walked over to one of the long seats along the wall, unbuttoning his suit jacket. Muscles rippled in his back and arms through his snowy white shirt with the movement.
Well, with his thick, luxuriant blond hair falling charmingly over one eye, his blue eyes like ice chips, and his six foot three, frame, nearly as tall as Victor, she could do worse having a second husband as far as looks. Mike was light and gentle looking, where Victor was all dark hair and eyes, tanned and hulking. An instant curiosity about the other two men rose in her. Would they be as delicious to look at as Victor and Mike?
“You’d have to get used to that with Harrison, Gemma,” Mike said. “He’s a workaholic. But what time he does have away from work, it will be yours. If you aren’t with Victor, of course.”
“Of course.” Gemma barely murmured the words. How could he talk about it so casually? And yet, somehow, he made it seem so natural. If she married Victor, she married all of them, and that was that.
Two men came hurrying up the tarmac, briefcases in hand, and clamored up the steps to the entrance of the plane. One, with skin nearly as dark as his suit, the other with similar coloring to Victor, but with faint flecks of grey in his gorgeous black hair, and an inky black, short beard framing his strong chin.
“It’s about time, you two. You’ll make us late.” Still at the door, Victor stepped aside to let them in and shut the door behind them.
“You’ll thank me when you hear why.” One of the two men said. “I closed the Prescot deal. Another cool five million in the bank.”
Victor whistled. “Nice work. Guys, come here.” He led them over to where Mike sat and Gemma busied herself with getting a drink of wine. She wasn’t a big drinker, but it would steady her nerves.
While the men took seats, Victor introduced them. The dark one was Cord. His big charcoal hand enveloped hers when he shook it, warm and reassuring. Harrison took off his white overcoat and hung it on a rack in a corner, then came over to get a drink. Gemma stared at him, watching him move. He had the grace of a panther, and she wondered what he did in his down time to obtain that kind of smoothness.
“What sort of lies has Victor been telling you about us, then, Gemma?” His eyes danced, suggesting good humor.
Gemma smiled and met his deep stare. No one had ever made her feel as if he was looking through her like that before. “What lies did he tell you about me?”
Victor gave a rich laugh and made room for her beside him as she walked over.
“I like her. She’s quick.” Harrison sipped his whisky.
For a while, the group talked, and slowly, Gemma felt herself relaxing with these four very different men. Dinner was a slow affair in one of the best restaurants in California, with a seven course meal, including steak and rich, red wine. The conversation resumed when all were full and back on the plane, drinks in hand. Cord smoked a cigar that filled the room with a delightful woodsy smell, and Gemma grew drowsy, leaning into Victor’s side with his arm around her.
The men were easy to talk to, and their welcoming approval of her made it easy to trust them. There was a feeling of belonging with them she’d never felt before with anyone except Victor. It was easy to see why he was so close to them, like brothers. But could she marry herself to all four of them? She’d never had any doubts she could make a man happy one day, but four?
At some point, the men had retired to separate quarters on the plane, leaving her and Victor alone.
“So?” Victor sat her up slowly and tipped her face up to his. “What did you think?”
She couldn’t help a grin. “I like them. I’ve never seen four men so closely bonded.”
“Good.” He shifted closer to her and drew her slowly against his frame. His lips drew close to hers, enough to tingle, causing an instant warmth to pool in her belly.
“I don’t expect you to make any decisions now. But I want you to like them. It’s important to me.” His fingers grazed the back of her neck, then tangled in her pale curls.
Unable to decide what to say next, she licked her lips. “I…had a really good time tonight.”
“Oh, I have a lot more planned for you tonight.” The fingers on his other hand traced her lips, parting them slightly, while his gaze fixated on them hungrily.
“Do you, now?” She put on her best resistant tone. “And what sorts of things will you do to me?”
A familiar sparkle touched his eyes, the same one she saw whenever things were about to get kinky between them.
“There are handcuffs and rope in the closet over there.” He nodded to a part of the wall near the back of the compartment.
She gave him a disappointed look. “There’s nothing to cuff me to.”
Victor brought his lips to her ear, and his hot breath tickled it, making her pulse race. “I can be very imaginative, Gemma. If I want to immobilize you, I’ll find a way.”
She turned her head slightly. Stars dotted a velvet black sky outside. The implied threat in his words made her blood run like fire in her veins and her stomach quivered.
“And I suppose you’ll want to drag me off to the bedroom to fuck me.” She turned in the seat and leaned back on the backrest. It was no fun when he didn’t have to work for it.
Victor slid one hand up her bare leg to her knee, toward the hem of her black pencil skirt. The heat of his fingers sent a jolt of electricity through her, even though he kept the touch feather light, just enough to tingle the skin. Coupled with the commanding hardness and the expectation of obedience in his eyes, every caress made her heart go wild.
“What if I want you right here?”
Gemma stared. “Right here, where your buddies will hear?”
He bent and drew his lips to within an inch of hers. “When I’m through with you, they’ll hear more than enough to figure out what’s going on anyway, no matter where we are.”
Gemma bit her lip to keep from groaning. She and Victor had done plenty of mild kink, a little spanking, hair pulling, bondage, but they’d never done anything remotely public. Imagining the other men in their own quarters hearing her screams, hearing Victor take his pleasure from her, hard, fast and hungry, made her pussy tighten.
Slowly, she brought her lips the last inch to his and brushed her mouth over them, a single, teasing caress she knew never failed to speed up his pulse. She drew back to say something, something seductive, but he didn’t give her the chance. Victor’s hand drove into the back of her hair and his mouth crashed down on hers.
At the instant heat that spread through her, Gemma whimpered, every muscle in her body turning to jelly. Victor slanted his mouth over hers, prying her lips apart. His tongue speared inside. The implications made her chuckle against the kiss. She’d tried to tease him, but he was in charge, and when he wanted her mouth, she gave it.
Unable to resist playing with him, Gemma tried to turn her head away. Victor made a primal sound of disapproval in his throat and pinned her between the seat and his frame. He fisted her hair, forcing her head back, opening her mouth wider for him, and his tongue ravaged hers. Every part of her blazed, as if gasoline had been poured on an already roaring fire.
When he broke the kiss, his mouth left a fiery trail along her neck to her ear. Gemma panted and clawed at his back, through his shirt and jacket.
“I’m going to fuck you a
ll over this damn plane.” A deep rumble in her ear, while his hand rode up her leg, under the hem of her skirt.
“Are you now?” Gemma flicked his hand away and crossed her legs.
His hand in her hair tightened, serving as her only warning. Victor shoved his other hand up inside her skirt and pried her legs apart easily. The aggression made liquid fire of her blood.
“You want me to spank you, Gemma?”
“Not particularly.” She loved when he used those fabulous, huge hands on her ass, but she knew him well enough to know if she agreed to that, she wouldn’t be getting fucked for a while.
“Then behave yourself. Open your legs.”
Gemma allowed a twist of a smile and slowly spread her legs, allowing Victor to push her skirt up enough to expose her lacy panties. He slid his fingers along the outside, over her sex and rumbled at the wetness already pooled there.
“Nice. Let me see your pussy, Gemma.”
She swallowed. How did that single command make her knees weaken with such need? The sensual promise, the seduction in it, compelled her to obey him with frightening ease. She stood, slid her panties off and cast them aside, then sat down again.
“Satisfied?”
“So mouthy.” Familiar approval flickered in his eyes as he slid two fingertips over her slick pussy lips, stroking her clit until it ached. “I’m going to enjoy this. But first. My turn.” He stood up, positioning himself so that his belt was right at her eye level. Gemma looked up. God, his expression was all hard, all command and hunger. He didn’t even have to tell her what came next. The gold of his belt glistened in the dimmed overhead light. Below it, the bulge in his pants seemed extra large now, visibly straining against his slacks. It was as if his arousal had become her whole world.
Gemma moved to the edge of her seat and Victor pushed her hair back from her face, the gentleness at odds with the look in his eyes. “Take your shirt and bra off. Show me your tits.”
She licked her lips, throat dry. He could have easily taken them off himself, but he wanted the submission that came with her doing it.
